Surviving Idol: Young Adults with Cancer Expressing Themselves

Official Contest Rules

  1. Contestants must be cancer survivors*, in any stage of survivorship, between the ages of 17-40.
  2. You may enter if you are a young adult who is a cancer survivor* diagnosed at any age.
  3. Individuals who were diagnosed as a young adult and are now over 40 will be placed in the "Graduate" category.
  4. Contestants may only submit one entry in one category.
  5. Contestants may be individuals or part of a group act, but each member of a group must be a cancer survivor.
  6. Length of video may not exceed one minute.
  7. File Size Limit: 10 MB. File Formats accepted: AVI, MP4, FLV, MOV, WMV. Recommended Dimensions: 320x240.
  8. No nudity or obscenities permitted in videos.
  9. Producers and judges will select the final performers.
  10. Popular vote will determine winners.


* The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) pioneered the definition of survivor:
  From the time of diagnosis and for the balance of life, a person diagnosed with cancer is a survivor.
